AS HOME X LAMINAM
“I have a table at home where a different story unfolds every time. Since it is such a meaningful part of my life, I thought it would be interesting to incorporate this concept into a collection and share it with others. We created soft lines for the tabletop and a distinct design for the table’s base, which complement and contrast each other beautifully. This is how the Gramercy Marble x Laminam table collection was born”
Some dreams have no expiration date—they mature and take on clear shapes until they finally come to light. This was the case with this project—a shared dream of mine and Ania’s. Together, we explored the intricacies of using sintered quartz. Ania attended training at Laminam’s headquarters in Fiorano Modenese, while I gained hands-on experience in our workshop, working with CNC machines and specialized tools for quartz sintering. We were far apart, but that didn’t stop us from meeting at the intersection of our dreams: mine, to design a table, and Ania’s, to apply Laminam’s sintered quartz.
Being a small, independent studio allows us to bring innovative ideas to life. This is where unique furniture pieces are crafted, surprising with their design and handmade craftsmanship using classic, traditional techniques. With each collection, we strive to expand the spectrum of selected premium finishing materials and their applications, offering fully customizable furniture projects in terms of dimensions, finishes, and materials. These creations are designed to meet the needs of people looking for exceptional design rooted in functionality, elegance, and comfort.
How did our collaboration with Laminam begin?
Ania dreamed of using sintered quartz as wall cladding for one of her custom interior design projects. She researched interesting patterns, requested samples, and, after refining her vision, scheduled a visit to the showroom. There, she met Magda, who enthusiastically presented Laminam’s concept, goals, and possibilities. This led to training at Laminam’s factory, encouraging us to pursue bold furniture projects. This was clearly our domain, but we had some concerns—after all, we are just a small Polish workshop, and this material was entirely new to us.
We had never worked with sintered quartz before, and even our experience in crafting with steel seemed insufficient. Over time, however, our doubts gave way to growing enthusiasm and an irresistible desire to see the final result of the creative process.
The excitement was immense, and the challenge was intriguing. Magda’s proposal perfectly aligned with our aspirations for advancing in contemporary furniture making with sintered quartz—a material that is incredibly versatile and offers limitless applications for exclusive, soulful furniture designs.
Our first step was to understand the technological applications and possibilities of this material, which are virtually endless in terms of shape, thickness, and patterns. In a reversal of our usual process, we first chose the finishing material and then designed the construction around it. For the AS HOME X LAMINAM collection, we aimed to evoke a natural feel, using sintered quartz patterns from the I Naturali collection, where the beauty, elegance, and durability of Italian Carrara marble are translated onto large-format ceramic slabs. These timeless patterns remain highly popular today.
Looking at current trends, I can confidently say that our craftsmanship fits seamlessly into global design. The carefully selected materials, along with the unique design and construction, make our creations exceptional and one-of-a-kind.
This is a conscious collaboration with Laminam in creating unique functional designs, just as their sintered quartz patterns are uniquely one-of-a-kind.
The AS Home x Laminam collection includes the Gramercy Marble Table and the Greenwich Marble Mirrored Sideboard. In the table design, we used sintered quartz for the tabletop, giving it a unique oval form. For the mirrored sideboard, we applied the material to the furniture fronts, where the veined quartz patterns create a cohesive design despite the panel divisions.
With each project, I gain new experiences, enabling countless personalized options within this collection. The table base can be customized according to any design, and the tabletop can feature any of Laminam’s patterns. The combinations are truly endless.
We invite you to explore our creations.
